Disclosure
Sponsorship disclosure
When a story is paid for, you'll know — on every page where it appears.
What “Sponsored” means
A sponsored story is paid for by an advertiser. It is planned with the sponsor, reviewed by our editors, and published under a visible Sponsored label with the sponsor named.
Where the label appears
- On the homepage and section pages, in place of the section name.
- In search results and saved stories.
- At the top of the story, with a short disclosure note.
Links in sponsored stories
Links that a sponsor has paid for are marked with rel="sponsored", the standard way of telling search engines a link is paid. We don't sell links in our news reporting or explainers.
What we don't do
- We don't disguise paid content as news.
- We don't promise sponsors search rankings, indexing, traffic or readership.
- We don't let sponsors approve or change our independent coverage.
Questions
If you think a story should be labelled differently, tell us. To sponsor a story, see Work with us.
